Nusa Dua resort village

NUSA DUA

Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia is not your average backpacker spot, and it is definitely not on the banana pancake trail. Instead, it’s an exclusive romantic getaway or family oriented destination. First impression of this village is that it’s a gated community of highly rated resorts, perfect manicured lanes, swaying palm trees and a serene atmosphere.

Budget travelers prefer to stay in the neighbouring Seminyak or Uluwatu but visit Nusa dua to explore the long sandy white beaches and the bali collection for the shopping and international food scene it portrays.

There are three gates leading into this 20 plus resort cove, it’s beautiful, clean and safe. Five star resorts such as Shangri La, Grand Hyatt, The Westin, St. Regis and many more are all located in Nusa Dua.

How to get there

Our driver Putu, drove my family and I from Ubud town to Nusa dua. The journey was about an hour long. My brother and I couldn’t help but indulge in a cold bintang or two all the while avoiding the look on our mum’s face!

Where to stay

We chose to stay at Courtyard by Marriot Nusa Dua Hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the harmony of traditional balinese music and eager staff who escorted us to the reception. DSC04936IMG_1375DSC04962

We checked into our hotel rooms and set out to relax. This particular hotel was definitely a step up from my previous budget travel accomodations, so I chose to make the most out of it. The breakfast spread was phenomenal! Imagine eating an international exquisite buffet breakfast while enjoying the view of the turquoise lagoon pool and the many cute squirrels that popped by to snag a few crumbs from generous guests.

Lounging by the pool while sipping cold drinks was the order of the day.

What to do

There isn’t much to do by way of activities in Nusa Dua as people go there to get away from the chaos of big city life. We did however spend one morning doing water sports at Tanjung Benoa, Watersport Bali. There are a wide range of water activities to choose from; parasailing, jetskiing, banana boat, diving, snorekeling and many more.IMG_1214

Nusa Dua Beach

My family and I spent our afternoons at Nusa Dua Beach. It’s a great place for swimming, relaxing and dining. You can’t go wrong with ordering your favorite cocktail and taking in the scenery and long beach.

Shopping and dining

The Bali collection is where most residents of Nusa dua resorts go to. It offers numerous cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops and live music bands.
